Spread over 800 sq. km of thick wooded reserve,cradled in the picturesque valley of the Aravalis, this famed wildlife sanctuary is frequented more as a getaway from Delhi. Established in 1955, as the Tiger Sanctuary under the Project Tiger, the dry deciduous forests of the Reserve are noted for their population of tiger, nilgai, sambar, cheetah, four horned antelope and wild boar.
 




Sariska is located at the Kankwari fort, near Alwar on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. It can be reached from Jaipur - it is 108 kilometres from the sanctuary. Jaipur is also the closest airport. It is 200 kms from Delhi. The closest town and rail link is at Alwar, which is 21 kilometres from the park.

Pandupol Temple -
Among the historic ruins around, this temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It offers a delightful sight with a falls trickling down from the compact rocks. Legend has it that the Pandava brothers took refuge here during the exile.

Neelkanth Temple -
An overwhelming, fabulously carved structure dedicated to Lord Shiva. It still has a regular stream of devotees.

Ruins of Bhangarh -
Set in the lush green valley, this place paints a picture of the ancient kingdom which once flourished here. The town-planning, castle hierarchy, market system and the beauty of its temples is note-worthy.

Viratnagar -
Some 66 kms from Alwar, is better known as Bairat here. It is one of the oldest historical sites in Rajasthan. An edict of King Ashoka the Great was instituted here. These ruins are worth a visit for the breathtaking view they offer.

Siliserh -
Alwar s most renowned picnic spot, Siliserh was built as a summer retreat. Some 13 kms from Jaipur, it is set in a most picturesque location.
