City Guide

The journey to Ranikhet was nothing like what we had imagined. Nothing spectacular at all, just a long, winding road, terraced farms, and a valley view. Just as we had given up hope, five kms short of Ranikhet, there was a dramatic change of scenery -thick wooded forests, a drop in temperature, and the smell of pine. Things surely seemed to be looking up.
The first thing on our agenda was to find a hotel. The small, crowded market had a number of them. But I couldn t imagine spending a vacation on a crowded street, so I decided to explore further, and it paid off. Ranikhet is known for old British houses, which have recently been converted into hotels. There are good views of the Himalayas from the village.
