      City Guide

Kalimpong is one of those rare hill stations that has managed to remain aloof from the loud and overcrowded tourist map. Lying peacefully against the backdrop of the magnificient Khangchendzonga, this historic little town in West Bengal, was originally a part of Bhutan, which merged with Darjeeling in 1865 following the Anglo-Bhutan war.

Come bloom-time, and Kalimpong emerges in a riot of colours as entire hillsides get covered with exquisite orchids and other exotic flowers. Famous for its arts and Buddhist monasteries, Kalimpong is a heavenly place for some bird watching, rafting or just taking a relaxing break from the worries and tensions of a world far away.
