Har Ki Pauri Har Ki Pauri (Brahm Kund) is the main ghat. Locals believe that this is the spot where Ganga leaves the mountains to enter the plains. Lord Vishnu s footprint on one of the stones here is visited by thousands of devotees. The Ganga aarti is held here every evening. Hundreds of tiny diyas and marigolds float down the river as priests recite Om on the ghat steps.
Bara Bazaar Besides numerous prasad stalls, the Bara Bazaar is a brightly coloured area where lots of tiny shops sell idols, brassware and ayurvedic items.
Mansa Devi Temple Take a cable-car ride up to the Mansa Devi Temple, located on a hill above the city. Open between 8 am and 5 pm (closed for lunch between 12 pm and 2 pm). The more enterprising can attempt to climb up the 1.5 km stretch. Mansa is one of the varied forms of Goddess Durga and hence the name of the temple.
Chandi Devi Temple Chandi is also one of the varied forms of Goddess Durga. Located on a hilltop, the climb here is much more than that of the Mansa Devi Temple. But now cable cars have been installed which have made the trip easier.
Sapt Rishi Ashram It is believed that seven holy sages had prayed at this very place for the good of humanity. The Ganga flows in seven little streams here. Taxis and Vikrams (Three wheelers) are a convenient way to reach the ashram, 5 km away from Haridwar.
Pavan Dham
Just 3 km away from Har Ki Pauri is Pavan Dham. This very beautiful temple is famous for its glass interiors.
Vaishno Devi Temple
About 2 km from Pavan Dham, this is a miniature version of the famous Vaishno Devi Temple.
Bharat Mata Temple A rare multi-storeyed building in Haridwar, it?s unique in that it is visible from a distance. Each floor in the building is dedicated to different gods.
Shanti Kunj
One of the most unique places in all Haridwar which is associated with diverse activities. The place has windmills, workshops, school, a medical centre and more. It empowers its residents who work in the workshops that manufacture candlesticks, honey and incense sticks.
