  Caribbean » Cayman Islands
      City Guide

Caribbean travel destination is one of the most popular in the world. Beaches, boats, banks and bikinis are Caribbean menu essentials. But the No 1 playground for the Americas also comprises movie-set beauty, coconut-tree-clad mountains, verdant valleys of sugar cane and bananas, and seashore galore.

Cayman Islands
Nestled in the calm, turquoise waters of the western Caribbean, lies the peaceful British Overseas Territory known as the Cayman Islands. Consisting of three islands just 480 miles south of Miami, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman remain our little piece of paradise.

By Air

Direct Flights: Carribbean Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air, British Airways

The only way to get from Grand Cayman to the sister islands is by air. Island Air flies small prop planes to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman in about half an hour. Cayman Airways flies 737s to Cayman Brac but doesn t offer a service to Little Cayman

Shopping on Grand Cayman is duty-free and there is no sales tax. Luxury imports of fine English china, perfumes from around the world, Japanese cameras, Swiss watches, and electronic goods are sold at good prices. Sunken treasures made into jewelry are a unique island craft and of course T-shirts are sold everywhere. The inhabitants English charm and serene manners contribute to making your Cayman Island stay and shopping experience a delight. Cayman Brac or Little Cayman has little to offer in the way of shopping. Small purchases - nothing elaborate - can be made at the hotels.

Grand Cayman has a public minibus service, but it s elusive; renting a car is the best way to explore the island. On the sister islands of Little Cayman and Cayman Brac, it s virtually the only form of transport. You can rent from agencies at the airport or have a car delivered to your hotel.

You can take a taxi anywhere on Grand Cayman, though availability drops off the farther you get from George Town. Taxis are not available on Little Cayman or Cayman Brac.

You can take a ferry between North Sound and Rum Point on Grand Cayman, which takes about 40 minutes each way.
