The unspoiled countryside of Australia, presents some breathtaking visual delights. Australia is famed for its friendly people, scenic beauty and great urban centers. Sydney is said to be most "European" of all the Australian cities while Melbourne is the fashion, food and sports capital of the country. The many parks and lush gardens flourish the city. Since the climate in Sydney is moderate, most people prefer spending there time outdoors, walking, sight-seeing and relaxing in delightful cafes and restaurants, overlooking glistening blue waters. The heart of tropical north Queens land, Cairns provides access to two of Australia s most famous Heritage sites - the great Barrier reef and "tropical rainforest " Cairns also provides a base for exploring the rich aboriginal culture of north Queens land which dates back 40,000 years. An hours drive south of Brisbane lie 40 kms of dazzling white, sun drenched beaches - This is Gold Coast.

Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, is a cosmopolitan and lively city that is home to many different types of scenery, including skyscrapers, parkland and even an artificial beach.

Brisbane City Hall
The heritage listed City Hall is seen as the heart of the City of Brisbane. Designed by architects Hall and Prentice, the sandstone-faced building features a finely detailed main entrance topped by an 85 meter Clock Tower. The Clock Tower is open to the public.

Queensland Cultural Centre
This superb complex spans two blocks either side of Melbourne St in South Brisbane, just across Victoria Bridge. It houses the Queensland Art Gallery, the Queensland Museum, the State Library and the Performing Arts Complex. The museum has a dinosaur garden and a worthwhile exhibition on whales; the art gallery has an impressive permanent Australian collection and plenty of temporary exhibits.

Currumbin Sanctuary
The Sanctuary is an oasis with over 27 hectares of landscaped surrounds and bush land catering for over 1400 mammals, birds and reptiles, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary offers a unique natural experience. one can see native animals face to face in natural surroundings.

David Fleay Wildlife Park
David Fleay Wildlife Park is home to many native animals. Here, animals are displayed in surroundings similar to their natural habitats. Three local native animals as well as rare and threatened species are seldom seen in the wild.

South Bank Parklands
One of the city s liveliest areas covering 40 acres, its attractions include restaurants and cafes, an IMAX theatre, parklands and bike paths, a butterfly house, market stalls and even a sandy swimming beach.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
Just a 35-minute bus ride south from the city centre, the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is an easy half-day trip. The sanctuary is set in attractive parklands beside the river (you can get there by boat) and is home to a wide variety of Australian wildlife, including kangaroos, possums, wombats, emus and lyrebirds. The star attractions are the 130 or so koalas.

River Lights Buffet Dinner Cruise (Sundays & Thursdays)

Sunshine Coast Crocodile Tour
Steve and Terri Irwin who made their name in the television series Crocodile Hunter run this extraordinary private zoo. Saltwater Crocodiles, Australia s largest and most dangerous predators are the stars of the zoo. The zoo has many foreign species including Harriet, who is claimed to be the world s oldest Galapagos land tortoise, as well as anacondas and American alligators. But its main attraction for overseas visitors is a good representative collection of Australian animals, birds and snakes.

Queen Street Mall

Offers a wide range of shops amongst its 1200, as well as plenty of restaurants and cafes, cinemas, accommodation and a casino. There are some wonderful goods within Chinatown and Fortitude Valley. For designer boutiques stroll along Milton s Park Road. Late night Shopping in the Brisbane City Centre is on Friday, when the shops stay open until 9.00pm. During other evenings, shops are open until 5.30 pm, apart from Saturday when they close at 5.00pm and Sunday when they close at 4.00pm.

A shuttle bus runs between the airport and the Transit Center about every half-hour till mid-evening. There are also shuttle buses to the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. The main bus terminal is the Transit Centre on Roma St, and all the main bus companies arrive and leave from here. Buses run to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Cairns, as well as towns up and down the coast. In addition to normal city buses, there are city express services that run between the city centre and the suburbs. The fast city train network has seven lines, and there is an efficient ferry service along and across the Brisbane River.
