Fly from Kolkata to Guwahati. The domestic flights save a lot of time and money on travel, and we accomplish the intention of seeing the wildlife in this part of incredible India. Guwahati is on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, and forms an essential gateway point to the North East and to the wildlife reserves. Formerly known as Pragjyotishpur or the 'City of Eastern Light', the city derives its name from two Assamese words, 'Guwa' meaning a chewable betel nut and 'Haat' meaning Market. Set amidst the scenic hills of the eastern Himalayas, Guwahati is well known for its sprawling tea gardens and the place has emerged as one of the largest tea-auctioning center in the world. Guwahati is referred as the 'Gateway to the Northeast', as all the seven northeastern states of India are easily accessible from here. Guwahati is also an important place of Hindu pilgrimage and the place is popular for its unique, vivid and colorful culture. Apart from its exceptional scenic beauty and fascinating culture, there are several tourist attractions in Guwahati. The major tourist attractions of Guwahati include the famous Kamakhya Temple, Vashistha Ashram, Guwahati Tea Auction Center, Guwahati Zoo, Dol Gobinda, Gandhi Mandap, Forest Museum, Anthropological Museum and Guwahati Planetarium. Overnight in Guwahati

DAY 04:
Kaziranga National Park is an ideal place for bird watching in Assam. There are a number of birds that you can see at the Kaziranga National Park. Some of the species of birds that you may come across include Pallas's fishing eagle, white tailed eagle, oriental honey buzzard, brahminy kite, black-shouldered kite and grey-headed fishing eagle. Migratory birds also flock Kaziranga National Park during winter. No doubt the one-horned rhino towers the other animals in the park but there are animals that attract a lot of attention and interest in tourists. Some of the animals that are visible in the Kaziranga National Park are elephants, wild boar, pythons, Indian bison, leopard, sloth beers, capped langurs, hog deer and tigers. Overnight in Kaziranga

DAY 05:

Another day to explore Kaziranga National Park. Two days are required considering the extent of this reserve and the magnitude of the whole landscape. Overnight in Kaziranga

DAY 06:

Most people would want a third day at this National Reserve. However, if you feel you do not want to, tea and rubber plantations are other attractions around Kaziranga that you may like to explore. A visit to Karbi villages nearby is another exciting activity that you can enjoy. Overnight in Kaziranga

Day 07:

We drive from Kaziranga to Guwahati and onwards take a flight to Darjeeling. The flight is via Kolkata.Darjeeling is a town in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the headquarters of Darjeeling district, in the Shiwalik Hills on the lower range of the Himalaya, at an average elevation of 2,134 m (6,982 ft). The name "Darjeeling" is a combination of the Tibetan words Dorje ("thunderbolt") and ling ("place"), translating to "The land of the thunderbolt." Darjeeling's temperate climate led to its development as a hill station (hill town) for British residents to escape the heat of the plains during the summers. Darjeeling is internationally famous for its tea industry and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tea plantations date back to the mid 1800s as part of a British development of the area. The tea growers of the area developed distinctive hybrids of black tea and fermenting techniques, with many blends considered among the world's finest. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway connecting the town with the plains was declared a World Heritage Site in 1999 and is one of the few steam engines still in service in India.

Darjeeling has several British-style public schools, which attract students from many parts of India and neighbouring countries. The town, along with neighbouring Kalimpong was a major centre for the demand of a separate Gorkhaland state in the 1980s, though it has gradually decreased over the past decade due to the setting up of an autonomous hill council. In the recent years the town's fragile ecology is threatened by a rising demand for environmental resources, stemming from growing tourist traffic and poorly planned urbanisation. Overnight stay at hotel in Darjeeling.

Day 08:

Early morning at 3.30 start for Tiger Hill to watch the spectacular sunrise and its amazing Ghoom Monastery and Batashia Loop War Memorial while returning to the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel is followed by full day  local sightseeing covering Padmaja and Zoological Garden, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tibetian Refugee Self-help Center and visit to all the local market (City Life). Enjoy the historical Toy Train ride, provided the train is running for the day. Overnight in Darjeeling

Day 09:

Today we drive from Darjeeling to Gangtok. On arrival in Gangtok, check in at your hotel. Enjoy the beautiful sights enroute the drive. Gangtok is the capital and largest town of the Indian state of Sikkim. It is situated in the lower Himalayas. Known for its clean surroundings and temperate climate, this hill station of about fifty thousand people is the centre of Sikkim's tourist industry. Gangtok was a small hamlet until the construction of the Enchey Monastery in 1840 made it a pilgrimage center. It became a major stopover between Tibet and British India at the end of the 19th century. Following India's independence in 1947, Sikkim became a nation-state with Gangtok as its capital. In 1975 the monarchy was abrogated and Sikkim became India's twenty-second state, with Gangtok remaining as its capital. The precise meaning of the name Gangtok is unclear, though it is generally held to mean "lofty hill". Gangtok is also a centre of Tibetan Buddhist culture and learning with numerous monasteries and religious educational institutions.
